SECOND QUARTER IN A ROW MOISE OUTRAISES ALL OPPONENTS IN CROWDED FL-17 RACE
MIAMI - Dr. Rudolph “Rudy” Moise, Democratic Candidate for Congress in Florida's 17 th District filed his financial disclosure as required by the Federal Election Commission yesterday by the midnight deadline. The report showed Moise out raised all opponents significantly in the quarter and still has more on hand than his opponents.
Moise's campaign brought in $102,145. Moise loaned $200,000 to help bring the committee's total to $505,000 raised and $251,337 cash on hand at the close of the quarter.
Opponent Frederica Wilson reported raising $21,975 over the three month quarter and has $113,771.27 on hand. Shirley Gibson, who took in $1,000 from Tootsie's Adult Entertainment Club owner Michael John Gasperec, reported just $10,050 raised and $89,086 on hand. Yolly Roberson, Andre Williams, Marleine Bastien, and Scott Galvin raised $$24,145, $21,850, $1,623.13 and $55,596.05 respectively. All had less than $54,000 on hand at the close of the quarter.
Phillip Brutus has failed to report his financial disclosure for the second quarter in a row. Opponents Roderick Vereen and Dufirston Neree also failed to file by the FEC's deadline. James Bush, Leroy Adam and Corey Poitier have never filed a FEC report indicating they have not yet raised or spent $5,000.
“Money isn't everything; I don't think it's the end-all-be-all in this crowded race. We do know, however, that voters aren't tuned in and polling shows that no one in the race has more than 74% name recognition. It costs money to get your message out” said Moise.
He continued, “My fundraising means I am working hard everyday. It means I am taking this race seriously and people believe in what I stand for so they are putting their money where their heart is.”
With a Primary Election now just 4 ½ months away, campaigns are no doubt increasing efforts to raise funds and reach voters. Moise's camp says they are leaving no stone unturned and have been door-knocking in the district for two months. Campaign Manager Anastasia Apa elaborated, “Races against career politicians aren't easy. Rudy is certainly the odd man out. He's the only candidate without strong political relationships and kick-backs to expect. Rudy has to work hard to win and I think voters can relate to that.”
For more than 30 years, Rudy has helped provide healthcare to over 25,000 members of our community as President and Medical Director of Comprehensive Health Center in District 17's city of North Miami. Rudy Moise says job creation, healthcare, and education would be his top priorities in Congress. He is married to Mirjam Moise and they have two school aged children, Rudy, Jr. and Maya.
